You come to the United States to continue your study. It is the first time you go there. One of your classmates invited you to have dinner in her house. You come to her house and she opens the door for you. You are about to take your shoes off, but you see her with her shoes on. You are hesitating for a moment.

Angela: Come on in, Vira. Why are you hesitating?

Vira: Umm…because I am not certain if I should take my shoes off or not…

Angela: Oh, it’s okay. You do not have to take it off. Do you have to do that in Indonesia?

Vira : Yes, if we come inside someone’s house we should take our shoes off. It is impolite if you do not.

Angela: Oh, it’s okay here in the US. Thank you anyway for telling me. I will remember that when I visit your country someday.
