    Pendahuluan

    Respon dari pernyataan dapat bermacam-macam tergantung konteksnya. Misalnya jika seseorang menyatakan bahwa ia ingin makan, maka responnya adalah menyuruh orang tersebut untuk makan yang masuk dalam kategori saran/suggestion.

    Ungkapan yang digunakan untuk memberi saran adalah dengan menggunakan kata “should”.

    Selain saran, ungkapan lain untuk respon biasanya bergantung pada pernyataannya. Misalnya mengenai sesuatu hal yang positif, berarti balasan yang benar adalah mengucapkan selamat, setuju dengan pernyataan, dll.

    Contoh:

    Recommendation: When you go to Paris, you should visit Eiffel Tower. Can’t miss it!

    Advice: You should focus more on your career instead of wasting time.

    Agree: You’re right, I agree with your opinion

    Greetings: Congratulations! You deserve it. You have been working hard.

    1. I can’t sleep well lately. Respond: You should try to drink hot milk before going to bed. I was doing it once and it helped a lot.

    2. I want to be a doctor. Respond: You should study hard then, because being a doctor is not joking.

    3. I have a headache. Respond: Maybe you should take aspirin. It is well known to reduce pain.

    4. I’m always late for school. Respond: Well, you should waking up earlier then. If it’s hard? Then don’t sleep too late.

    5. I can see well. Respond: Congratulations! The glasses fit well on you too.

    6. The english class is exciting. Respond: I know! I love the lesson as well. I wish it’s 3 times a week.

    7. The teachers are nice and helpful. Respond: I’m glad that you enjoy learning with them.
